Airplane Related Activities (excuses to fly)

• Formation flying. A great way to sharpen your flying skills and have lots of fun in the process - just make sure to get proper instruction. FFI (Formation Flying Inc., AVWeb article) issues formation-flying credentials required to fly formation in waivered airspace. I'm an FFI flight lead.
• American Yankee Association (AYA) organizes fun fly-ins, provides useful information about Grumman aircraft (those with reciprocating engines).
• Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and the local chapter 62 organize Young Eagle flights and fly-outs and offer lots of hanger talk.
• Angel Flight not only gives you an excuse to fly, its for a good cause too.
• Wings of History tries to preserve the local aviation history. The nice folks run the antique aircraft museum at South County airport.
